MPavilion

In its 10^th year, MPavilion has become an architecture and design juggernaut, attracting more than 1.2 million visitors and hosting thousands of Australian and overseas designers. With events across key Melbourne landmarks and university campuses until March, the 2024 leg will highlight the themes of Craftsmanship and A Blank Canvas, the latter a showcase of minimalist master Tadao Ando’s work.

Part of the ArchiBuild juggernaut, Design Show Australia brings together local and internationally lauded interior designers and brands, along with buyers, suppliers and manufacturers. Featuring product exhibits, installations and presentations from leading design professionals, Design Show is a landmark event on the calendars of Aussie residentialand commercial designers.

Décor + Design — Melbourne

For more proof that Australian designers are spoiled for choice when it comes to industry events, look no further than Décor+ Design, slated for Melbourne in July 2024. Celebrating its 20th anniversaryin 2024 with the theme "Evolution," the event features the latest infurniture, décor, textiles, and art. Designers and architects will have a feast of inspiration to choose from, with established and upstart brands on display alongside an awards showcase for emerging designers.

The Architecture Symposium — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane

Curated by Design Speaks, this series spans three cities with discrete themes each year. Architects and designers can expect much food for thought via informal discussions and keynote addresses,covering an array of topics that explore architecture's role in cultural and economic life. Events are scheduled from February to November 2024.

The ArchiBuild Expo — Sydney

ArchiBuild Expo brings together acornucopia of manufacturers, suppliers and brands to mingle with architects,designers and builders working across commercial, workplace, retail,hospitality, multi-res and residential projects. In 2024, the event comes to Sydney’s ICC for a multi-day expo.

A firm favourite on the Australian industry calendar, Melbourne Design Week celebrates a cavalcade of local and international artisans. The Australian Furniture Design Award is a special highlight especially for the interiors crowd, whilst the Art Book Fair offers its share of delights for print lovers. Not to be outdone by its southern cousin,Sydney’s own Design Week kicks off in September 2024. Hosted by Powerhouse Museum, the 10-day festival celebrates design artistry and theory across multiple exhibitions, talks, workshops and public installations.

Designers Australia Awards – November 2024

The Design Institute of Australia’s prestigious annual awards celebrate the very best work of the country’s design professionals and studios. Their Hall of Fame is a testament to the richness of Australia’s design landscape, recognising the stars of interior architecture and design.

Architectural Science Association Conference

With an academic focus that contrasts with the commercial and exhibition-focused events listed here, ASA’s annual conference explores intersections between architecture, building science, and urban design. Expect to get access to cutting-edge research in architectural and construction technology, sustainable design, data-led design and building physics. The 2024 event is to be hosted at Griffith University, with event dates to be announced.
