Project Architect - Sustainability
Successful Manhattan based architecture firm is looking for a Project Architect to join their team and help them grow their Sustainability practice.
About this role
A well-established, award-winning NYC studio is looking to appoint a capable and ambitious Project Architect to play a strategic role in their sustainability practice. This individual will spearhead the incorporation of sustainable principles into the firm’s work, focusing on both pioneering ideas and practical execution, with a commitment to measurable outcomes achieved through benchmarking and iterative modeling of sustainability strategies
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Sustainability and individual project teams. Liaise with client and multiple consultants in order to develop design strategies in the pursuit of higher building performance. Preparation of architectural design and construction documents Develop technical aspects of the design of a project Management and mentorship of junior staff.
Skills and experience:
- Architecture degree (Bachelor or Master) Strong interest in Civil Architecture. A minimum of 8 years of experience. Large scale and sustainable design project experience is desired. LEED Accredited, PHI or PHIUS training; Parsons Healthy Materials Lab accreditation preferred. Knowledge of emerging technologies and systems, and proficiency in sustainability strategy development and implementation. Background in design and sustainability for project delivery, including certification documentation (LEED, Passive House, WELL, Fitwel) and sustainable analysis (Whole Building LCA, daylighting analysis, etc.) Proven ability to oversee projects from concept to construction documentation, including support for construction administration, punch lists, and close-outs. Generates original ideas and solutions, demonstrates attention to detail, is resourceful, and eager to learn and share knowledge. Strong aesthetic sense, design sensibility, and communication skills (both verbal and written) Advanced skills in Revit (including Insight, Tally, or similar), Adobe Creative Suite, and exceptional graphic and 3D presentation abilities. Familiar with NYC/NYS regulatory and life safety codes. License is preferred but not a requirement.
